2011 St. Louis Cardinals
Tony LaRussa fooled everyone including himself saying that 2010 was his final year in the bigs. On October 18th, LaRussa signed a one year deal with the Cards with an option for a 2nd year. The team also picked up the $16 million option on Albert Pujols. In November, the team traded P Blake Hawksworth for IF Ryan Theriot and in mid November, the team signed Free Agent Pitcher Jake Westbrook through the 2012 season with an option for 2013.
Assistant GM John Abbamondi left the team to take a position with the San Diego Padres as a Vice President. The team welcomed C Gerald Laird, RF Lance Berkman, LHP Brian Tallet and SS Ryan Theriot.
3B David Freese had right ankle surgery in August 2010 and left ankle surgery in September 2010
